The Villa d’Este is a spectacular villa residence surrounded by an enormous Renaissance garden filled with hundreds of water features to delight! The villa was built in the 1500’s by the d’Este family as a summer residence and has been changed and updated through the centuries.
You can explore the beautiful gardens and marvel at the water features, with seemingly endless fountains, basins, sprouts, water jets, basins, and waterfalls.
The water for the estate required a river to be partially diverted as well as advanced engineering and canals with the entire network functioning entirely by gravity and without pumps.
Besides the garden, you can also visit the villa or take a stroll through the surrounding charming town of Tivoli before your driver takes you back to your hotel in Rome.
