Your private English-speaking driver will meet you at your hotel in the morning for pickup in comfortable, luxury vehicle. You will head south and arrive mid-morning at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Pompeii, located at the base of the towering Mt. Vesuvius.
Mt. Vesuvius is still active today and has erupted many times over the centuries, with the most significant eruption occurring in 79 AD. This eruption buried the entire town of Pompeii under stones and ash, preserving it in remarkable condition. As a result, Pompeii is now an open-air museum showcasing what life was like during Roman times.
Upon your arrival at the entrance, you will be greeted by your local guide, who will take you to the most important spots within the vast archaeological park, both indoors and outdoors. Your private walking tour of Pompeii will last for two hours, after which your guide will escort you back to meet your driver.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, as the site features uneven ancient roads, and bringing appropriate clothing for the weather. Following your visit, your driver will take you to a local restaurant where you can enjoy some specialties, including mozzarella di bufala and delicious red sauce made from local tomatoes.
Next, your driver will take you on one of the most beautiful and dramatic drives in Italy: the Amalfi Coast. Since one day is not enough to visit the entire Amalfi Coast, we will focus on Positano, which is often referred to as the pearl of the coast.
After about an hour of driving along the famous Amalfi Drive, you will reach Positano. Once in the town center, you will proceed on foot all the way down to the beach and the Positano dock. Here, you can admire the city center, characterized by charming alleys lined with shops and artistic ateliers that create a picturesque landscape.
Positano has been synonymous with fashion since the 1950s, thanks in part to its many tailor-made clothing shops. From the historic center, you can also admire the dome of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
In Positano, you will have two hours at your disposal before you make your way back to Rome.
