A full-day tour operated with an English-speaking guide on both sites and a private de luxe vehicle with an English-speaking driver.
Pick up at 10 am at your hotel/apartment in the morning and transfer to St. Paul Basilica. The basilica is one of the four papal basilicas in Rome, the largest after St Peter’s in the Vatican. It stands on the site that tradition indicates as the burial place of the Apostle Paul, whose tomb is under the papal altar.
The site has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1980. The cloister of the basilica is one of the marvels of 13th-century Rome. In the center of the cloister are four squares of a well-tended garden. It is surrounded by four covered walkways protected by a low wall or podium. Elegant paired columns decorated with mosaics rise from this base.
Free time for the lunch break, in case you wish we can book a nice trattoria along or near Appian Way (lunch is not included in the tour cost). After lunch, visit the St Callisto Catacomb, which has the most extensive catacombs. They have discovered some 20 kilometers of tunnels and niches on 4 levels. Here you can see the 2nd level. The visit was a true immersion into the very origins of Christianity when the early Christian community bought these lands to use as a burial site.
At the end of the visit, transfer to your hotel/apartment within 4 pm.
